Okay, I know Linux is a unix based operating system, but can it run my MS
software designed for Win 95/98/ME?

I am thinking of changing to Linux, but I don't want to have to replace all
my software.

I understand that Windows XP is to be released sometime in the four quarter
2001. I also understand that in order to use this software, you have to
register the software in order to enable it, and in doing so, some personal
information such as your computer serial number is uploaded to Microsoft.

Thanking you in advance...

When you register some software for 98, ME, and the newer OS from Microsoft
now, such info is downloaded if you register online.
