Configuring hardware

Hello,

I have recently installed Red hat for Linux with some difficulty. I'm not
too sure what version because I downloaded it about 15 months ago, and since
then I had to change the file name and I forgot to include the program
version.

The problems that I am having are below

I am a blind user of Linux and thus I depend on sound to operate the system.
The main problem that I am having is, the system cant detect my sound card.
I have looked at the product support list on the www.redhat.com web page,
and it is listed. When looking at the products supported on my version it
has Sound blaster, Sound blaster pro and another sound blaster card but not
the one that I have.
"now for the question"
Is there something that I can do to get the operating system to detect my
sound card?
If not, is there a way that I can download the drivers from the web when
using windows, bring them to Linux and install them? I need to do this in
Windows because I cant configure my modem with out the assistance of sound.

Last but not least:
is there any way that I can view the "man" pages threw windows? I want to
do this so I can get a grasp on Linux while these problems are being worked
on?

Thanks

Try the OSS sound driver.http://www.4front-tech.com. Worked for me. Also
watch /var/log/messages for what's happening.Never tried the man page
thing.
