Well, I recommend that you buy a distribution of Linux, ie.. SuSE, Redhat, Mandrake... I have Suse and it comes with 5 manuals, and you get support from the company. It is worth the money since most personal package distributions are $30, including CD's and manuals. The manual will definately tell you how to setup LILO, I know mine does (Suse 7.2). I would tell you, but it is rather lenghty for me to type....
