LILO is easy enough to configure for dual boot, but, to simplify things, get bootpart, a freeware app that will add Linux to the NT boot loader's menu. I have 5 OS'es (Win 95, Win NT, Linux, Be OS, OS/2) on my test box, and NT's boot loader handles them all. Linux does not have to be on the boot partition, but it does have to be on one of the four primary partitions (read *not* an extended partition). And finally, yes, you can have the boot partition as NTFS. I haven't set up LILO in this scenario, but, as I said above, I have set up NT's boot loader in this way. >Below is an explanation of how I am planning to layout my HD: > >Partition 1 (Boot): >- 1.2GB >- NTFS >- Stores NT Srv & WKST > >Partition 2: >- 1.2GB >- NTFS >- Application storage > >Partition 3: >- 1.1GB >- Fat16 >- Stores Win95 and Dos 6.22 > >Partition 4: >- 800MB >- LS OS >- Stores Linux > >If anyone sees a problem with this layout please tell me. And finally, it looks as if you'll be setting up the swap for Linux as a file, instead of a separate partition. Most newcomers to Linux are used to MS's practice of files as vm, but don't overlook the advantages of partition-based vm, which is a bit faster. >-- >Jeff Armani MCP >General Computer Assistance > > > -- --Arthur Corliss "Live Free or Die--the Only Way to Live" (NH State Motto)
