I am running a very cool linux based proxy server with my cable
modem. My nieghbor wrote the software and it runs on a 486 dx266 with
16 megs of ram. The whole system boots from a single floppy and runs
hassle free in the 16 megs of ram. It also has an amazing firewall
that nothing has got through (so far as I know)

He has a great set of step by step instructions and the source code
available as a free download. At present I am running 8 pentium
machines through it with a cable connection.

If you are interested email me at mytechmail@email.com and I will send
you the URL.
