***** akr.misc Charter *****
Welcome to akr.misc! This is a newsgroup dedicated to the discussion of
events, places and general activity in the Akron, Ohio area. In this
charter, I will set forth which posts will be allowed, and which will
not.
First of all, please note that this group was created with a vision of
the wonderful conversations I hope to have about things that are
happening in the Akron area. I don't want to impose a lot of rules on
everyone, but I think it will do us some good if these are written, so
that if you should be thinking of posting something that doesn't
qualify, you can stop before I have to read it and actually start using
that reserved white room over at Akron General Medical Center that is in
my name. Or at the very least, you won't have to wonder "WHY OH WHY did
my post get canceled???"
So lets get to it:
1. Your post is acceptable if and only if it discusses something that is
directly related to the Akron, Ohio area. You may ask a question, you
may tell us about your event happening in the Akron area, you may
discuss the state of affairs in the city of Akron... You get the idea.
2. So what then is the Akron area? I would suppose that anything that
can be dialed as a local call from Akron proper could be considered to
be part of the Akron area. But don't get caried away. Don't crosspost
things which generally relate to the state of Ohio to akr.misc. Keep it
in oh.general in this case. All sites which receive akr.misc also have
the capacity to receive oh.general.
3. When you post to akr.misc, I would hope that you will take the time
to mention the Akron area in your posting. It shows that you did not
simply see akr.misc and say to yourself "misc means miscellaneous which
means EVERYTHING!!!" Nope. It has to be directly related to the Akron
area.
4. If your post is regarding a service you provide, you must be based in
the Akron area. akr.misc was not created so that people from other
states could blindly crosspost about their Los Angeles based service and
hope someone from Akron cares. Either post it to a more local group, or
post it to a national group. *BUT DO NOT POST IT TO akr.misc!*
5. Under no circumstances will "MAKE MONEY FAST" or similar posts be
accepted. Simply don't post them. You would be well advised not to
post them anywhere, let alone akr.misc.
6. Ditto for "spam"... multiple copies of the same content.
akr.misc was created by Richard E. Depew (red@redpoll.mrfs.oh.us) and
Mark E. Daniel (mark@legend.akron.oh.us). If your post does not fall
within the guidelines set forth by this charter, we reserve the right to
cancel it. Repeat offenders risk being added to the group's cancelbot.
As of Oct 7, 1995, akr.misc became the first newsgroup to test the
voxpopmod method of self-regulation.
