You have something running that does not release
when shutting down. This is a common problem
with apps such as antivirus and others. Look at all
TSRs and anything in start up that runs in the background,
Also Just before shutting down do a "Control Alt Delete"
and see what's running, These areas will point to the
problem. You can "end task" one item at a time and shut
down and see if it works ok. When it does you've found
the culprit. Also try to start in safe mode(f4 on windows
start) and a shut down and see if all goes ok. If it does
then it's probably a software problem,,If not it becomes
more serious.
