When you are reading the file size under Explorer, You are reading the
actual file size. When You are reading the disk space under Properties you
get the amount of disk space avalible (or used). The differance is the
anount of space lost due to the way the files use the clusters on your hard
drive. Under FAT16 on a one gig hard drive the cluster size is quite large
about 16K (Ithink that is close) and a 1byte file will use an entire
cluster. To get around this you can re-partition your hard drive into
smaller partitions ( a 256k partition uses 512 byte clusters) or you can
install win95 plus and use the drivespace three with the no compression
option, fastest speed. This will store the files in 512byte groups. and
reclaim a lot of the wasted space on your drive
