The Great Hoaxer stitch-up of John Humble.

We are witnessing an audacious stitch up of an innocent and vulnerable man,
John Humble, for a very serious crime with media connivance to assist
corrupt policemen to convict him through the courts. Humble is an alcoholic
who is described as being an ordinary decent person who lives in a council
house on very small means. Humble is to be the patsy for the West Yorkshire
police to cover their own crimes and failings.

The Sunderland Echo newspaper was the driving force behind this drama.

For several years news editor and also author of the book 'Wearside Jack',
Patrick Lavelle, has conducted a campaign to unmask the alleged Yorkshire
Ripper "hoaxer" naming several persons both to the police and in his book
and repeatedly asking his readers to give him the names of any suspect they
knew, all the while promoting his book "Wearside Jack". Over a period of 6
years it has been nothing short of a witch hunt because there was no hoax
and the book was based on a police lie.

Before the arrest of the lunatic copycat killer Peter Sutcliffe, the West
Yorkshire police were certain that the letter writer was the Ripper but
after securing his "confessions" to all the murders they then said the
letters were a hoax.

This lie provided Patrick Lavelle with an idea for a book and his efforts
have contributed greatly to the attempted framing of an innocent man for
this alleged crime.

On 19th October Lavelle wrote in the Echo

" The information I gave police included the name of a 49-year-old man from
Sunderland, and the allegations that were made against him by two local
women.
The man arrested yesterday is 49 and from Sunderland, but there is nothing
to say it is the same man.
Whether it is the same man or not really doesn't matter. What does matter is
that one of the biggest criminal mysteries in Sunderland may about to be
resolved.
If it is resolved it may have something to do with advances in forensic
science. But, in my view, is has more to do with the people of Sunderland,
who always laughed at the claims there was a serial killer in our midst.
It is these people who have never forgotten, who provided the information
that led to this new inquiry, and this arrest.
In the next few days many people, among them authors and media
professionals, will jump on the bandwagon, claiming they helped police catch
the prime suspect for the Ripper Hoax.
Please don't doubt for one minute, this renewed inquiry happened for one
reason only - the campaign by the Sunderland Echo on behalf of its readers.
If it had not been for Echo readers, the case of Wearside Jack would have
been unresolved.
Now, however, there is a chance that the shadow of the Ripper, which has
hung over Sunderland for two-and-a-half decades, may soon be lifted."

Lavelle's book is a quest to identify the Wearside "hoaxer" and this has
been his passion for several years during which time he has been in constant
touch with the police and wrote many prominent newspaper articles about
various developments and police enquiries into his allegations. A search of
the archive of the Echo will reveal the full extent of it.

It is based on the premise that the letters sent to the police by the
Ripper were truly a hoax. That is a false premise which I will prove here.

Now Lavelle has succeeded in pushing some policemen bent on covering up
their colleagues botched Ripper case into arresting an innocent and
vulnerable man and attempting to frame him as the hoaxer in order to close
speculation that it was not a hoax.

His article continues

'Timetable of hoaxer hunt

1998: The Echo's new news editor, Patrick Lavelle, launches his hunt for
Wearside Jack.
February 8, 1999: Sunderland dad-of-three Ron Fulbirg, 49, who was arrested
and quizzed by police 14 times about the Ripper Hoaxer tape, breaks his
20-year-silence to tell the Echo: "I'm not Wearside Jack".
June 1999: Echo news editor Patrick Lavelle publishes his book, Wearside
Jack: The Hunt for the Hoaxer of the Century.
September 21, 1999: West Yorkshire Police decide not to reopen the inquiry
into the Ripper Hoaxer despite the Echo uncovering the names of 12 possible
suspects.
July 11, 2002: A potential new suspect in the Wearside Jack hunt emerged
after detectives were handed information which linked him with the Ripper
hoax and the unsolved murder of Sunderland prostitute Julie Perigo in 1986.
September, 3, 2002: A 46-year-old man is questioned by detectives over the
unsolved murder of Julie Perigo and the Ripper hoax.
September 16, 2003: West Yorkshire Police say they are no longer
investigating the Ripper Hoax because, given the time which has now passed,
it would not be possible to prosecute for the offence of wasting police
time.
July 1, 2005: West Yorkshire Police confirm they have misplaced the original
Wearside Jack tape and letters.
October 18, 2005: West Yorkshire Police arrest a Sunderland man in
connection with the Wearside Jack inquiry.'

So let us be in no doubt that the over zealous news editor Patrick Lavelle
was the instigator for the witch hunt and arrest of John Humble. Lavelle's
book is laden with pictures of Ripper suspects who received a lot of police
attention but who had much more going for them than simply being Geordies as
we will see.

However.

Prior to the arrest of Peter Sutcliffe it was acknowledged by the top brass
in the police that there were two killers involved in the series of murders
known as the Ripper enquiry. The Ripper was the number one target. The
copycat killer was a secondary target.

Peter Sutcliffe was that copycat killer and the real Ripper, Billy Tracey
is still a free man. Sutcliffe had been eliminated 12 times because he is O
blood group. The Ripper was known to be B group. There is a police cover up.

Detective Chief Superintendant Dick Holland, the corrupt cop who had earlier
framed the innocent Stefan Kiszko for murder, brokered a deal with Sutcliffe
whereby they offered him no trial and ten years in a mental hospital in
exchange for his confessions to all the murders of the Ripper as well as his
own crimes. Sutcliffe accepted the deal and he had no trial other than a
test of madness. Sutcliffe's solicitor Kerry MacGill, who was the other
broker to this infamous deal is now a crown court judge in Leeds and it will
be interesting to see if he presides over the John Humble stitch up. MacGill
acted as solicitor for Dick Holland when Holland later faced corruption
charges for the Kiszko stitch-up and the charges were dropped inexplicably.
Kiszko died shortly after his release from prison.

George Oldfield, the policeman in charge of the Ripper hunt confirmed that
there were two killers involved in the Ripper frame to the Sunday Times in
November 1980 shortly before Sutcliffe's arrest.

Quote "Oldfield conceded to us that no fewer than five of the attacks, 3
killings, 2 assaults, fell into a "grey area" where the balance of
probability that they were the Ripper's work was "much weaker." If he put
his hands up to these killings then it would not surprise us", Oldfield
said. "But equally, if we were only able to charge him with 10 murders and
not the 13 we would not mind." Oldfield's sentiment, after almost 5 years on
the Ripper trail, is understandable. But it carries a sinister implication:
if all the 17 attacks were not by the same person then there is not one
Ripper but at least two. Clearly though, most of the attacks were committed
by one person. "The Ripper".

Ron Warren the deputy chairman of the police authority can confirm today
that the police knew there were two killers involved. He can also confirm
that the media never seriously approached him about it.

Oldfield was certain that the Ripper had written him three letters and sent
him a taped cassette message for very good reasons. The letters were posted
in Sunderland. The Ripper spoke with a flat Geordie accent and this put the
finger of suspicion on every man who spoke with a Geordie accent. From then
on all men from the North East became Ripper suspects. The police
interviewed thousands of Geordies and the first thing they did was examine
their teeth to see if there was a prominent gap in the top front row or
dentures in that area. If a suspect had no gap or dentures he was eliminated
immediately. If he had any gap in the top row of teeth he was asked to
provide a blood sample. If his blood was anything other than the rare B
blood he was then eliminated.

This was because the Ripper had bitten two victims on the left breast, Joan
Harrison in Preston and Josephine Whittaker in Halifax. Saliva recovered on
the bites showed the killer was the rare one in sixteen B secretor blood
group. The bites showed he had a large gap in the top front of his teeth.

Saliva on one of the envelopes sent from Sunderland had traces of the same
rare blood group.

In addition the paper was bitten deeply by the writer and the teeth marks
were identical to the bite marks on the victim's breasts. The Ripper was
clearly taunting Oldfield and he knew it.

Suspects were never told about these clues that the police had to the Ripper
's identity other than that he was a Geordie. Also the public were not made
aware of them at that time.

So it can be seen that it was not just being a Geordie that brought
suspicion on men from the North East. They were looking for a very
distinctive and rare Geordie. One with a large gap in his top front teeth
and B secretor blood group.

After the murder of Helen Rytka in his own home town of Huddersfield in
January 1978, George Oldfield appealed to the public for information and was
answered with two letters from the Ripper himself, among many other letters.

The writer referred to a "close call" last one which Oldfield knew about
because the Ripper had already arranged the body in a blood soaked place but
because of all the traffic outside the yard he was in, he had difficulty
getting away unnoticed so in a bit of a panic he had to hide the body behind
a stack of timber and dump all the clothes and tools of his trade just in
case the police came into the yard searching for Miss Rytka. His normal
routine was to rearrange the body with clothing in specific places and cover
it so that the police found it and knew it was him again.

The letter writer included then unknown copycat killer Peter Sutcliffe's
Manchester murder of Jean Jordan, and also his own Preston murder in his
count, and to verify his credentials he promised another murder in
Manchester 'Old slut next time. I hope' a promise he fulfilled. Two weeks
after receiving the second letter, the body of Bradford prostitute Yvonne
Pearson was discovered where it had lain buried for three months. It had
none of the Ripper's hall-marks. Sutcliffe, the lunatic Copy-Cat killer, had
returned to the body to expose it as he had done to Jean Jordan in
Manchester.

The Bradford police stated that it was done by a copy-cat killer. A
newspaper featuring an article about Helen Rytka had been placed beside the
body to associate it with the Ripper.

Then on the 16th May, Vera Millward, a former prostitute, was murdered
in Manchester and her body was ritually rearranged. She was the oldest
victim. This bore all the Ripper's hall-marks of repeated stabbing through
the same orifice with only one insertion on the outside and ripping the
stomach open with the claws of the hammer and redressing and rearranging the
body as promised by the letter writer.

Oldfield knew the Ripper was writing to him and believed his words.

Two weeks later the police included Jean Jordan in the Ripper frame on the
strength of the Ripper's two letters, which were then known only to the
police. At least four of the Ripper victims to date had been sexually
assaulted and traces of semen revealed he was of the rare 'B' blood group.

Peter Sutcliffe was eliminated in all his subsequent interviews because he
is 'O' blood group, and because his wife convinced the police he was with
her at crucial times of real Ripper murders. She was certain he was not the
Ripper for those reasons.
There was a gap of eleven months and then the police received a third letter
promising, "to get back on the job". He referred to his Manchester murder
that he had promised and also to Mrs Millward's hospital, something that was
not known publicly. He also reminded Oldfield that he said he would do an
older one next time. Up to this time Joan Harrison from Preston was not in
the Ripper frame.

Just two weeks later, a 19 year old respectable girl, Josephine Whittaker
was murdered in the same ritual fashion in Halifax, by the Ripper. Halifax
was targeted by the Ripper because Oldfield had included the copycat's
assault on Mrs Smelt in Halifax a few months earlier into the Ripper frame
and the Ripper/ letter writer expected the police to arrest the copycat
killer.

The third letter from Sunderland bore "B" blood saliva on the gummed label
and the imprint of the writer's teeth. Josephine was bitten deeply on the
left breast by the same killer of Joan Harrison in Preston in November 1975.
The teeth imprints were identical and saliva on both bites yielded the same
rare "B" blood group. The Ripper had taken credit for the Preston murder in
his first and second letter. He authenticated his letters with the bite on
Josephine Whittaker's left breast. No hoaxer could have done it and that's
why the police were certain the letters were from the Ripper.
Then, in June 1979, the police received a taped message from the Ripper who
mimicked a Geordie accent.
He again included Jordan, Pearson, and Harrison in his count because they
had all been in the Ripper frame for 6 months. The Ripper had effectively
forced the police to include the Copy-Cat's murders and some of his assaults
in his frame. In the expectation of the police arresting the lunatic copycat
killer he also promised another murder, 'in September or October'. He was
driving the police to get the copycat killer.

Police released extracts of his hand-writing and Geordie accent to the
public in June 1979, in the expectation of someone identifying them. With
chilling accuracy, on the lst September, the Ripper murdered university
student Barbara Leach, just a stroll from Bradford police headquarters.
There was no question that it was him again. She had all the hall marks.

It must be emphasized that the police did not reveal the full contents of
the letters and tape and you can bet your bottom dollar that those details
they kept to themselves were very telling evidence that they were for real.

The conviction that it was the Ripper writing to him came on George Oldfield
progressively over those 15 or so months of getting the letters as the
murders progressed. So many things that happened were spoken of or predicted
that it could not be a hoax and the blood group and teeth bite absolutely
confirmed their credentials. Here I have only given a summary of the matters
dealt with.
The urgency to identify the hand-writing and accent became greater, and a
massive free publicity campaign followed.

The police completely failed to take on board the possibility indeed the
probability, that the Ripper posted his letters in Sunderland and used a
Geordie accent just to divert them.

Any half baked actor can imitate a Geordie accent or any other accent.

This was a huge mistake and one that could never be faced when the copycat
killer Sutcliffe was convicted in 1981 on the strength of his confessions to
all the murders. They explained away the letters and tape as the work of a
cruel hoaxer. They let the real Ripper get away.

There is always grave danger when journalists try to manipulate and make the
news instead of doing their job of reporting the actions of others as news.
That has happened in Sunderland and the whole tone of the Sunderland Echo
articles are that John Humble is the infamous hoaxer in the Yorkshire Ripper
case. Its almost a repeat of the events that were reported on the arrest of
Peter Sutcliffe when he was pronounced the Ripper by the police before he
was charged.

It is an orchestrated witch hunt.

The Sunderland Echo article goes on to state,

"Sutcliffe, who was jailed in 1981 for the murder of 13 women, has always
denied killing Mrs Harrison, whose badly-beaten body, which had bite marks
on it, was found in a Preston garage."

This is just one example of the perverse reporting that they have done down
the years never once stating the obvious which is that Sutcliffe simply
could not have killed Joan Harrison because his teeth marks didn't match the
bite marks on her breast and his blood group didn't match the blood group of
her killer's semen found in both her anus and her vagina, even if he did
confess to it. In addition to that the police had eliminated him so
thoroughly that they were absolutely certain this lunatic was not the
Ripper.

But stories about the Ripper always generated large sales of newspapers.

Up to Sutcliffe's arrest the police were certain that the letters were from
the Ripper but they explained them away as a hoax after Sutcliffe's
conviction. It was the only thing they could say. Then they closed the case
and forgot about the copycat killer and the rare B blood group and the bite
marks and there it remains until now.

But that copycat killer must be somewhere and what if he is Peter Sutcliffe
and the police have weaved a tissue of lies ever since his arrest?

The obvious implication is that the real Ripper is still at large and the
police know it. That is a claim I have been making since 1982.

Renewed interest in the case and my allegations of a cover up have
precipitated this arrest of John Humble who is to be the patsy to close that
embarrassing hoax off.

It appears Humble is being investigated for a murder of a prostitute in 1986
and the alleged hoax.

They could pick on anyone for that but a vulnerable Geordie is just right
for them and they have the backing of Patrick Lavelle and the Echo to
convince the public.

The modus operandi of the West Yorkshire police is to drop the serious
charge of murder which he probably had nothing to do with in the first
place, if the accused admits to the lesser charge of sending the letters to
Oldfield with of course an agreed jail term being part of the deal. It would
be explained that if he fights the charges by pleading not guilty and loses
he could go to jail for life, while an admission would mean no trial and a
short sentence. All the while the police would be assuring him that they
know he sent the letters, that they are sure and can prove it in court. All
his neighbours and friends now believe it anyway and always will.

They interviewed John Humble three years ago and concluded he was not the
hoaxer. The police said he was O blood group.

They may now try to suggest that breakthroughs in DNA profiling enabled them
to pin it on Humble. This highly suspect evidence cannot be challenged and
we only have to take their word for it. Their word is not enough.

This is a clear criminal stitch up by corrupt policemen who are still
covering up for the Ripper debacle.

What chance does a poor alcoholic labourer have under those circumstances to
get justice?
