There is a very rare illness out there that sneaks up and takes peoples
lives every day. Its called primary pulmonary hypertension or pph; this
disease attacks the very small arteries in the lungs where the o2 is
exchanged it causes the veins to constrict driving the blood pressure in the
lungs and the right side of the heart way up. It makes it impossible for a
person suffering from this illness to work or do anything without shortness
of breath.
There is no cure, except a double lung heart transplant. The survivability
for that procedure is only 40% to 60% and requires anywhere from 3 months to
a year in the hospital during which time a support person has to stay with
the sick person.
My wife has pph and we are trying to raise $150,000 so that we can be ready
for the time when she needs to get her transplants. The moneys raised will
be used to pay all her bills off since she can no longer work, also she has
requested that we prepay her funeral, these 2 items will take about $50,000
the balance will be used to allow her husband to take up to 1 year off work
and stay with her in Toronto when the time comes for her surgery and still
be able to pay his bills at home.
A web site has been set up to tell people more about pph as well there is a
letter there from my wife's doctor, the web address is:
