It gets worse. My machine at work has 32 megs RAM in order to
minimize disk thrashing during compile times (or that's what they
told me when I got the machine - I didn't argue!). Since the weather
is starting to get bad here in Minnesota, I thought it would be
nice to work at home a few days a week, so I took 16 megs RAM to
put in my home machine. The drop from 32 megs to 16 megs RAM here
at work was a NOTICEABLE difference just doing standard things in
Windows 95, like using my mail reader with no other windows open!

Now I am an advocate of Windows 95, don't get me wrong, but what
the HELL is going on that is using more than 16 megs RAM to avoid
disk swapping?
