Hello,
My name is Tamir Schaechner. I live in Israel and I had bought a CD-RW of
Phiplips (CDD 3610).
I installed the Easy CD Creator and I installerd the update for 3.5c and I
checked my ASAPI version (1017, 4.60).
1. When I Do the following:
Easy Cd Creator ->Tools ->System Tests -> Recorder -> Do Test
The computer get stuck and nothing happens.
I do CTRL+ALT+DEL and after 20 seconds or so I get the Close Program
window and there I see
that Explorer is not responding. After closing it and do CTRL+ALT+DEL
again I get Close Program
window and there I see that Easy Cd is not responding.
2. When I put a new empty Cd in the CD-RW drive I see in My Computer that it
is an Audio Cd. Why?
3. When I drag a folder to be copied onto the CD-R, using the Easy CD
Creator, the picture of the folder gets frozen on the lower part of the
screen and the computer gets stuck.
Could you please advice me ?
p.s. -
I have Pentium 133, 64 RAM, 2 GB free Hard Disk, win95.
Thank you in advance,
Tamir Schaechner

Operating system is Windows 98-SE. Software is the same. After much work, I have narrowed the problem down to the CDROM drive, which is not listed in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adaptec\Easy CD Creator\CDReader as a recognised drive type. ECDC then appears to substitute what it thinks the drive is - in my case something entirely different and incompatible. Interestingly, the 'upgrade' to 3.5c actually removed my Yamaha drive from the registry, so it might be a good idea to uninstall the software and reinstall the version that came with your drive - check the following registry key to see if the Philips unit gets a mention: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adaptec\Easy CD Creator\Devices It should be there! Unless someone comes up with a means of adding unrecognised drive parameters to this key - in which case I will pass on the information to you - the answer would seem to be that ECDC is incompatible with some hardware. You could change the CDROM drive to an 'approved' type. You could wait for the next version of ECDC in the forlorn hope that Adaptec will include a method of configuring unrecognised CDROM drives, or you could try some different software. CDRWIN from Golden Hawk Technology works fine for me. Audiograbber will reveal how good your CDROM drive is at reading audio data. This might also show that your CDROM drive is actually incapable of digital audio extraction, but that's another issue. If someone comes up with a solution privately. that will get ECDC working, I would appreciate an email. This is, after all, potentially very nice software to use. -- <>>< ><<> ><<> <>>< ><<> <>>< <>>< ><<> Graham Mayor <gmayor@eidosnet.co.uk> <>>< ><<> ><<> <>>< ><<> <>>< <>>< ><<>
