Newbie Dual CDROM question. Can I?

Hi there. I have two CD-ROM's, one old 4x that's good for music, and
one 32x that I use for games and such. What I was wondering, is is it
possible to hook two cdrom drives up to one soundcard, or do I need two
soundcards?

If it makes any difference, my sound card is an ESS audiodrive 1688, and
it currently DOES have both cdroms plugged into it. However, when I
have them both plugged in, it plays REALLY quietly and has soft static.

It works fine when only one or the other is plugged in, but otherwise,
I've got nothing.

I'd really appreciate any help I could get.

Please remove the NOSPAM from my address to reply
