T39mc Warranty service problems in Australia

Hi all,

My T39mc has just died of some "major hardware problem" according to the 
local Ericsson service centre. It is covered under warranty but they 
(Australian operations) can' handle it. They suggested that I send the 
phone overseas to have it repaired under its "International" warranty.  
:(

Does any one have any solution to this problem? I am not keen to send it 
overseas (HKG or Singapore) for this job. Is there any way I can have 
this problem sorted out locally in Australia?

As I understand it, T39mc and T39m share identical hardwares and they 
only differ in their firmwares. If I am happy to convert my T39mc to a 
T39m, why can't it be done locally?

Any suggestions? I know some of you are very knowlegeable on these 
matters. So thanks in advance for any advice.
