Could anyone help out with information relating to preset Security Codes for Nokia 3310/5. A friend has had one handed in at his work and was never claimed (no Sim Card inside) and "Phone Security " seems to have been activated. He is looking to use the phone assuming its not IMEI blocked. BTW is there a number to ring in Australia to check on this or can I just ring any Mobile Phone Company and give them the IMEI? A User Manual would be appreciated aswell (or link to) Thanks Lynton Davies

You mean an unlocking code? Or the default security code of 12345? > A friend has had one handed in at his work and was never claimed (no Sim > Card inside) and "Phone Security " seems to have been activated. If it's just a security code, providing it hasn't been changed, then it's right to go. If it's what Optus call "SIM security", then without being the original owner of the handset it's a little trickier, but not impossible. > He is looking to use the phone assuming its not IMEI blocked. Make a call and the network will tell you whether or not the handset is blocked. Doesn't affect emergency services though, so don't try dialling them! > A User Manual would be appreciated aswell (or link to) Nokia have common manuals on their site - and yes the 3310/15 is common :-) All said, I would still have tried to locate the original owner via the cops or the carrier (if possible), but if the phone has been lying dormant unclaimed for a certain period of time, depending on where you live it's finders keepers. Check to make sure though. Albinus.

Easy enough to do with a data cable, they're less than $30 or get someone with a cable to loan you one. Al.
