My experience FWIW

I have a 6160, a Motorola analogue and an Ericcson DH338 all on the
same provider.

The nearest tower is about 3.4mile away but over a hill. The analogue
and TDMA carrier are the same - no roaming issues. My downstairs room
is a problemmatic area for reception

With my Motorola I get OK analogue service - about 2-3 signal bars.

With the Ericsson I get reasonable digital servic

WIth the 6160 I get no service at all, analogue or digital.
Occasionally if I head to a window I get some service or even if I
don't, if I try to make a call it finds a digital channel and makes
it.

I am not sure if it's a phone performance issue or a problem with the
phone itself. SO I have take the phone back for servicing and I hear
they are replacing EEPROMs or something so maybe it was a phone
problem. Updates when I get the phone back.
