I had a second drive in one computer with almost 20 Gigs on MP3s Iv'e collected/made over the last year and a half. Lots of out of print & rare cuts also. I built a new system and went to put this in as a second drive (both WD drives), the jumpers were set properly etc. but it wouldn't show the drive in Windows Explorer. It would show the drive in the device manager under system properties though. I took it to a local young tech who had never seen this before, he tried using FDisk and told me the drive was one big partition or empty. He asked had the drive been partitioned, I said no but it had the remains on Win 98SE on it (Cabs drivers etc. incase I needed them). I came home and thought maybe I can reload windows because it won't overwrite the files. WHen I tried "GoBack" utility came up, I forgot it had been on there (Like Norton Ghost type thing). That explained the partition, just not one that was the whole drive. I attempted to use GoBack to restore the drive which it did somewhat, It still says I am missing several files needed for Win 98 to work, at the C prompt I ran the DIR command and saw my folders I categorized my music into so I think they are there. If you are 99% sure you can straighten this out without further loss or damage, I.E. you really have a clue, let me know what an reasonable hour or two of your time is worth. I will even bring the system to you if you are local & if after 15 minutes you say no way, reformat my drive and I'll pay you for your time. I can start downloading and copying CDs again but some of the songs I looked for, for years at record shows etc. and don't think I can replace. Oh alright, an example is the music of Stairway to Heaven with the lyrics to Gilligans Island. Now you understand how valuable this stuff is right? Right? Brooks -- Afraid of being bitten Von Helsing took a crucifix from his pocket and held it between him and the vampire. "Es vet dir gornisht helfen" replied the vampire. (Yiddish for "It wouldn't help you")
