I've heard of a trick you can use with this CDex program (what/where is
this program, BTW?). Apparently, this program--which I'm unfamiliar
with--doesn't always work in regular use, or the info I read is outdated
or something. But as I recall, if you have 2 drives, you can use the
music CD and a blank CD at once, then after disabling the auto-insert
notification you can simply swap them between the drives. From there,
supposedly, CDex will copy them even though Explorer won't know you
switched them at first. But I've never had the program or the chance to
try it.

Another possible approach would be to use Totalrecorder, a favorite of
mine. It used to be pretty cheap, and is supposed to bypass everything
else in Windows regarding sound files so that you can record even the
ones Windows doesn't want you to record. I got it for like $15 at the
time. Check/search the web for it. It works on Realaudio files, even
the ones that are truly "streaming content". I know some .ra files that
are *supposed* be unrecordable will actually just save to your hardrive,
but Totalrecorder even works on the ones that don't end up there.

I'd like to know if either of these do work. I'm not into passing
around illegal copies, but I think I should be able to copy my own
stinking disks! Not to mention make my own compilations, which I
frequently do.
