FAQ
How does it work?
People form into groups for a desired class. Meetings are usually held
in Barnes & Nobles or Boarders Books. Many have laptops and in the past we
have had small networks. The class will go over the previous assignment or
cover new material or do a testing session using the quizzes in the books or
testing software.
How long is each course?
Depends on how much material and how fast the class wants to cover it.
Many can do a MCSE course in one month. For the harder ones it the time can
be extended to six week two months. Each class will vote on the matter after
an outline of the material is created.
No money?
Except for the cost of study materials and refreshments at the
bookstores we use there are no fees involved whatsoever.
Where and when do we meet?
The individual classes decide. Most meet Saturday and one or two week
nights. Some will meet at a common location on Saturday and split up for
weeknights. Others have had meetings at member's homes.
I want this class or that class
If you want a certain class that is not being offered, the best way is
to volunteer to lead it yourself and announce that via the mailing list.
Should others be interested you can then decide on where and when to meet.
What book or other study materials do we use?
The class leader can nominate the best text books to use and the class
should vote on it. Some people are comfortable with one publisher or another
for all of their MCSE books. There are many resources for comparing the
accuracy and depth of the books.
What other benefits are there from joining?
The contacts you make in the group are extremely valuable for job leads
and other information.
How do I sign up?
