Its more than just a personal preference thing. There are a
number of good reasons for a single partition on the boot drive.

It minimises a small risk of installs not being as well debugged for non C installs.

It eliminates the hassle of getting the partition sizes wrong
so that over time you wish you had used different sizes.

It eliminates the problem of the drive lettering changing when you put another
hard drive into the system, if only as a destination for quick backups etc.

With FAT32 there just isnt a good reason for more than one partition
on the boot drive anymore except with multiple OSs installed.
