To whom it may concern, For my personal finance I use some old software called "The Home Accountant Plus". It is the 1.4 IBM Personal Computer version. It dates back to 1983 and was written by 4 people whose names are: Mike Farmer, Larry Grodin, Stephen Pollack and Robert Schoenburg. The User's Guide was written by James E.Richardson and Laura Welch. Copyrights were by CPU Inc. and Continental Software Co. By 1983 Continental Software had it's office at 11223 South Hindry Avenue, Los Angeles, California 90045. It is a nice and user-friendly program that shows me every month my financial position with minimum effort. It is not a book-keeping program with general ledgers and all these things but simple and easy to handle and especially written for the home-user who wants to know where his money has gone. It has 5 budget cathegories: Assets, Credit Cards, Liabilities, Income and Expenses. At the end of a years it turns the totals for every item of the past year into the buget for the next and there you go again. It has elaborate listing possibilities and at the end of each month it gives me my total net worth. The main menu has 6 modules to choose from which are: Transactions, Graphs, Printed Reports, Print Checks/Activity Report, Budget and Forecast. And some data-handling facilities for starting new months or a new year. It came on two 5 1/4 " floppies. After all these years I still have much pleasure in using it but as it was written in Basic it is very oldfashioned compared to Windows and all that. So when I got myself a new computer these days which had Windows 95 as operating system on it my poor Home Accountant had to let me down. My printer started to produce chinese characters and I got all kinds of error remarks. So I hastely stepped down to Windows ver. 3.11 which did the trick. What I would like to know now is the following: Is there anyone out there who knows this software, who has ever used it or perhaps knows one of the people who wrote it, knows where Continental Software has gone. Have there been any updatings of the program during the period that I have been using it or maybe is there a Windows-version available right now. I hope that Mr Farmer or one of his (then) colleages reads this message. Else I'm afraid that my Home-Accountant will forever prevent me from switching to a Windows environment. I sincerely hope that someone will be able to help me. I have surfed the Internet for this but with no result. Many many thanks in advance for your help. Kind greetings, -- H.F.Richel Retired Administrator Coppelstockstraat 2 3132 XN Vlaardingen The Netherlands phone: 31104347121 e-mail:hfrichel@worldaccess.nl
