You're not having much luck because it's almost impossible to answer
questions like "my application just hangs and I have to reset it".

You need to do some more work debugging :-) Try to narrow down where
the code is hanging and post a small sample. Try selectively removing sections
of code to identify whic section causes the problem.

The amount of data you're dealing with doesn't sound like an awful lot,
so that probably isn't an issue.

I've used the TeeChart components that are supplied with BCB and have been
quite happy with them. You don't get much more cost-effective than that!
