Hello,

I am just starting with it myself, but take a look at MySQL at
http://www.tcx.se/ . There is a free Delphi Interface component,
TMySql available. I have also used this a little and so far no
complaints. The database is fast, and you can set up local or remote
connections to the DB via the internet. The interface to the DB does
not have to go through ODBC, but there is an ODBC driver available.

HTH,
Barry.
