When Access 8 sends an Outer Join via ODBC it puts parentheses around the clause after the "ON". Our DB2 v4.1.0 on OS390 rejects this syntax. The parentheses don't show up in the Access SQL window, only in the ODBC trace. Why does Access change things it doesn't need to? Is there a way to get it to stop doing that? On the other side shouldn't parentheses be acceptable most anywhere as long as they are matched? Is there a patch for DB2 v4.1.0 to handle this problem? Any other ideas for a work around? example: select ........ from ..... left join ..... on (..... = ....) Thanks, Bob Clore Seattle City Light (City of Seattle)
