database - or relational database?

If you don't necessarily want a relational database, and it just needs
to be free for your project, look at jbase (www.jbase.com). I'd much
rather point you at Pick (www.picksys.com), but they haven't released a
free version yet to the best of my knowledge (they're planning to).

great if you're running linux (redhat linux at that), not so great if
