  Hey Scott, I just bought one and I'm having the same problem. I
increased the gain using the terminal program provided, but I don't
think it's made much difference, if any.

  To top things off, I have a hardware problem too which requires a chip
upgrade. Seeing as you use the same modem, you are probably just as
entitled as I am.

  So far I'm unimpressed with USRobotics, and I too wonder if Global
Village would have been a better alternative. In USR's defence, my
e-mail to tech support was answered in just over 24 hours, and I am very
pleased with that.

  Have changed follow-ups to comp.sys.mac.hardware.misc and
comp.sys.mac.comm.
