I have a 56k LT winmodem and I am using 5.32. My ISP is Kflex only. I cannot get the modem to connect any faster than 33.6. Can anyone tell me what to do? I tried switching to software flow control and using at&fx in the extra settings; this results in a connect which reads 115000 however my download speeds are still at around 3.7 per sec. Finally, my modem always configures as ltwinmodem, is there any way I could get it to use a standard windows driver for 56k. I think I tried before and it kept saying the port was open (I think because it tried to configure the modem to com port 2 however the modem seems to have to be on port 3.) Thank you for any help. -- The Fly

Well, if you've got a V.90 modem, your best bet is to bitch to your ISP and see when they're going to switch to V.90. Most manufacturers have a software upgrade to V.90 available. If your ISP's sysadmin isn't sure about going to V.90 I'd be happy to talk to him. I've been admin over several ISPs and I've seen a lot of equipment that's gone from both X2 and K56Flex to the V.90 standard. He'll probably say that V.90 isn't totally straightened out, but what he's heard only really applies to end user modem software. I really think this is going to be your best route. I haven't seen a manufacturer yet that hasn't offered the V.90 upgrade for free.
