DOS DEL to the recycle bin

Can I use the DOS del to the recycle bin? I found out that I can not.

Is there a way to do it? Is there an executable of some sort that will
enable me to send a file to the recycle bin from WinNT DOS?

Any idea will be welcome.

Oren

I am not a member in most of these groups. Please reply directly to me.

We need your e-mail address in order to reply!!!!

I posted this in all the groups you posted this message, so you should
see it in one of them.

What you will need is some utility like Norton's TRASHCAN that can be
run in both NT and DOS. Of course you will have to load the TSR in DOS
when you go to NT DOS.

1. My e-mail is there.
2. Will an extranl utility use the NT recycle bin? or do I have to switch to
another utility for all my delete/undelete operations?

I think you want Delete97 (freeware). Here's a snippet of their info:

--------------------------------------------

1. What is Delete'97?
Delete'97 is for deleting files from the DOS box, in Win95 and NT 4.0.
It simply deletes the files and sends them to the recycle bin. In popular
opinion, this is what DEL command in MSDOS box of Win95 and WinNT
should have been.

[...]

3. Differences/Enhancements over the DEL command.
- As said earlier this program does not delete files permanently. It sends
files to the recycle bin instead. This allows you to recover accidentally
  deleted files.
- As far as we know, DELETE'97 is fully compatible with the syntax of
  Win95/NT's DEL command.
- DELETE adds two new options /a and /v. THANKS TO MANY OF 4DOS users who
suggested including a parameter to delete all files irrespective of
  attributes.
- Under NT, the DEL command accepts multiple file names as parameters,
but under Win95 DEL behaves like the older DOS command. Delete'97
accepts multiple file names/wild cards under both NT and Win 95. For
  example you can specify

        DELETE "C:\Program Files\README.*" Hello?.DOC *.BAK

to delete three different group of files. For details try DELETE.EXE /?

4. Requirement(s):
- Any machine compatible with Windows 95/NT 4.0.

[...]

8. What does it cost?
DELETE'97 is absolute FREEWARE. Feel free to distribute. Please try to
send me us e-mail

This program is valid, according to the reading, to Win 95 system. I need
one that would fit the NT station software.

Thanks you for the info in any case. I can see that I'll find one for usre.

Some other people have already given you some good shareware progams
that will also do this. What Norton's and most of them do is take over
the recycle bin. Then these programs that willl run in both NT and DOS
use this program and will put all deleted files into the recycle bin
and manage it Of course the TSR will have to be loaded when you enter
DOS.
