Real Player alternative - navigation?

Anyone else using RealPlayer Alternative please? It seems to do the
job of playing BBC Today 'Listen Again' (.ram) clips adequately. But
one annoying flaw here is that the slider doesn't work. Whatever
position I move it to I get no sound. And that's true even if I've
already played the whole clip.

Do others get same behaviour please? Any fix/work-around?

And (as I can't easily test it myself) does the slider work properly
in RealPlayer?

I gave up using BBC 'Listen Again' and now use their podcasts.

URL for the Today Programme podcasts:
http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/radio4/today/rss.xml

...then d/l the MP3s you want.

Thanks, that's a handy alternative. Although shortcomings are:
1) You need to visit the main Listen Again site first to work out what
file you want
2) Very slow downloads; I'm getting 30 kB/s on broadband right now, on
that 11 MB MP3.
3) Not sure all the clips included? (e.g. The 'blunder clips'?)

If you have a method to grab RSS feeds, you can once-off create
entries for any of the BBC feeds. Each BBC feed provides the URL
of the related podcast for direct download. It never used to until
I complained.

Here's one example of a recent RSS feed from Today programme:

<quote>
Are more parents sending their children to private school through
choice or necessity?

Related Medium Link (3.036.791 Bytes):
http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/radio4/today/today_20080508-0949.mp3
</quote>

I just copy/paste the URLs I want into my download manager and set
it to go get...

Time to change ISP? ;-)

>3) Not sure all the clips included? (e.g. The 'blunder clips'?)

It varies ...the Today programme RSS feeds only cover selected
highlights but are usually available for d/l later that day. Other
BBC podcast feeds are for complete programmes (eg: Assignment,
FileOn4, OnePlanet, The Interview, MoneyBox). Some of those
are BBC World Service progs...

ISTR this particular version of Real Player is ad free and well
behaved.
