Get a KT133A board. Asus offers the A7V133. See
http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1417 for a review. Do some
research. Not sure if Asus is the best of the KT133A, but it is a good one.
I love Abit, but their boards take a lot of tweaking to work properly. Also
note that AMD recently took Abit off their recommended list. Not sure what
the story is there.

An Athlon T-Bird 750 is about $15 more. That would be my bet. Very
overclockable. Mine is running @ 1100. YMMV.

Crucial is offering free shipping. Their CAS2 parts are about the best. I
use Mushkin, but Crucial has better prices and, IMHO, equal or better
quality at this time.

IBM 75GXP or wait to see what the 60GXP will offer. See
www.storagereview.com leaderboard.

Plextor. Can't go wrong. Post this question anywhere and you're likely to
get the same answer. Plextor owns the industry.

For compatibility? With cdr prices, can't think of why else to get
removable storage, especially the little used LS-120s.

Win98se. WinME is still too new. Needs a good service pack.

Excellent case. But a bit expensive

All the power you will need

Get the Asus A7V133. A better board and support 133/266

Get a faster Duron or better still an Athlon. By the time that day will
come you MB won't support the CPU.

Go for 256MB while the RAM is cheap. Kingmax, Apacer

Not out for another month. Just get the GeForce2 GTS Ultra.

Great Sound card

Go IBM

If might as well get the Richo DVD+CD+CDR+CDRW

LS-120 is dead. Not worth the money

Dual boot with Win98 and Win2K

Don't bother changing fans, Abit and Asus is both good brands. The only
let down is the CPU.

Save the money from the Super Drive floppy and ad an additional 128MB of
RAM. I made the mistake of getting a zip a year ago. I've NEVER used it
for any good reason. I always back up with my cdrw. Also, IBM makes a 45GB
udma100 hard drive for around 145!!! I like the Abit kt7a raid. If you
ever have extra cash you can get another 45 and have 90! I have two 30s.
Crucial makes good cheap RAM. Everything else looks fine.

They took the Asus A7V133 off as well. From what I can tell, they removed
ALL of the KT133A boards.

Crucial's free shipping is ONLY through March 12th, so you'll need to hurry
to save the $8.50, but it's definately worth it. Crucial is as good as any
and better than most.

Thanks for the heads-up on the ram. Didn't know the offer was going to
expire.

Cheers, Lupine

If he gets a KT133A m/b then its going to be a long time before his motherboard is
obsolete.
