The sescond line isn't quite right as it doesn't the first C:\ (at the beginning). That line is the instruction to run the SHSMOD program with the switches B and H. I suggest you add the following at the beginning of that line (but without the quote marks): "REM " that is, REM and a space. This will disable the SHSMOD program. Reboot the computer after you change and SAVE the autoexec.bat file. See if the problem goes away. If so, forget using the SHSMOD program. If no change, we need to check other things. The line "SMC37C669 at 03f0h detected" is an installed network card by SMC, with its address at 03f0h. The line "Port1 (03f8h) Serial Speed Mode:HIGH" is your serial port called COM1 at the standard address of 03f8h and the port speed set to HIGH. The line "Port2 (02f8h) Serial Speed Mode:HIGH" is your serial port called COM1 at the standard address of 02f8h and the port speed set to HIGH. Question: tell us about your mouse. Is it a standard serial mouse plugged into COM1 or is it a bus mouse (small round connector about hte size of a pencil)? If it is a standard serial mouse, the SHSMOD program setting the port speed to HIGH may be a problem...mouse/drivers/hardware can't keep up with each other (putting it in very simple terms). Disable the SHSMOD program in the autoexec.bat and check the speed settings for the port in: Start>Settnigs>ControlPanel>System>DeviceManager>Ports>Com1 (or Com2) for the port the mouse is plugged into. Click Properties>PortSettings and set the Bits per Second to 9600. Hope this helps. G
