Hello everybody,

I'm wondering if Rivatuner would do any good at all on my system
due to that i have a slow processor.
Isnt that the bottleneck besides my HD (ATA33) ?

Just installed the 30.30 drv...
(tested only 30min. and only 1 game!!!)
Everything looks fine.
Don't even dare to install the 4in1 drv........
There is no reason to make my system unstable and O/C
my GForce card if .......like i mentioned before.
My system:

Win 98SE
AMD K6-2 500 Mhz
163 MB SDRam 100 Mhz
VIA PA-2013 Motherboard
Advance ALS 4000 Soundcard
Gforce2 MX/MX 400 32MB
Seagate 20GB: 10000kb/s Sandra, 56000kb/s Wintune
(win-cached) (ata33) *:-)did i misunderstand sth. here:-)*

Any information appreciated.

Rudy

Running a via based motherboard with no via 4in1 drivers on a win9x machine
is a bottleneck.... seriously, agp isn't even fully enabled without them....

Not really, no.

But do install the 4-in-1:s or else you won't have full AGP and UDMA33
support.

I differ. It's a great program that has hidden abilities to fix Nvidia
bugs so it's useful on any system using an Nvidia card :)

I've never had it fix anything for me...

Otoh, it won't hurt installing it either as it can be used to force FSAA,
aniso settings etc quickly and easily (although it seems a reboot is
required to make them 'stick').

But it has for me so as you can see it's worth having :D

User 1 downloaded and used it and it worked ok but didn't fix anything
but caused no problems.

User 2 downloaded it and it found and fixed bad data entries in the
registry and it caused no problems.

Conclusion.
It's free.Causes no problems and can fix hidden/unkown problems :P

I tried these 4in1 drivers and they completely locked up my Win98SE
Micron 800 Mhz machine. Actually ended up restoring the registry before
I could get back into Windows. Is there someway a person can determine
if their VIA set will support these drivers? My motherboard is:

TazerII - Tyan S1854 Via 133A 4x
CPU Chip Set: Via VT82C694X AGP4X NB
IDE Chip Set: Via VT82C596 B ATA-66 SB

The system has 512 Megs of memory.

Thanks.

They should work with your board - in fact Tyan provides them with the
boards and also links to them for download for your particular board.... The
drivers are more than just a registry entry so I'm a little unsure as to how
restoring yours managed to fix the problems you saw when you installed them!
Sometimes people have had problems when choosing to install the agp driver
in 'turbo' mode (basically 4x) so you could try installing it in standard
mode....

I did install the agp driver in turbo mode so I will try again tomorrow
using standard mode. Now that I know how to recover I am not as concern
with having a problem. But I did have problems after installing them.
I could only boot into safe mode.

Managed to get 4.40 installed on the second go around. Was able to
install using turbo mode. Thanks for encouraging me to try again.

Np - not sure if you ran any benchmarks beforehand? But you *should* see a
nice increase in graphics performance!
