Hello , I am new in this group .
Perhaps my trouble will be an old one ,
but in this moment , I must ask for helping .
Ive just put a K6-II at 400 mhz ,
its the fourth processor in the same motherboard ,
but the first AMD , and I have a strange problems ,
only with this micro , continously hangs-up or resets ,
never more than 30 minutes rightly working , more ,
if the pc is recently on , it works more time that if it is
long time working , and its fan is the bigger Ive
seen for this kind of chips ( its for a k6-III at 450 mhz !! )
The motherboard is a Spacewalker , the bios is
an award 4.51 pg , the s.o is w98-se , I have reinstalled all the drivers
and all the software , Ive emailed AMD , Ive tried everything in the
parameters of the bios , Ive asked in the seller , but nothing at all .
The only strange thing Ive seen , is that , the p.c. only goes fine
if I put the same bus of 66 or lower for all the parts , even to the micro ,
cause I must configure the system for work with 100 , but the memory
is a 72 pin type one , 64 mbs . So if I try working with 100 mhz for
the micro , x4 multiplier , and 66 mhz for the ram , it hangs , but if i try
all the sistem at 66 mhz or even at 75 mhz , all goes fine .
The seller says me that is usual working with no-100 mhz memory
and with that speed for the micro , without problems .
Ah , if I put it for working at 450 mhz , it goes fine ...
till it hangs up , just like at 400 mhz !!
Its the only strange thing Ive seen . Please , any idea ? Thanks
(answer me in the group , cause the email is not the true one )

Sounds like the motherboard is not designed for that CPU. Try looking into an ASUS motherboard.
