Hello,

I have recently run into a problem with the PCchips (Alton) 747, M747, 7047
(all the same board).

When the computer is cold, the first time you boot, the computer stops at
the first bootable ide device (hard drive or cdrom) and hangs. It does
recognize the device, but acts as if it can't read the master boot record.
A quick reset and the system boots fine.  If i go into the bios setup first,
then exit into a soft reboot, the system boots fine.  If i shutdown and boot
the system is fine.  If i shut down, wait until the system cools (30 seconds
to a few hours - depending on how long it has been running) and power up,
the boot problem reappears.

Having built 4 systems in a row with the same problem,  swapping all
components at least 3 times,  the only common denominator is the system
board.

I am a reseller and have used these boards without problems.  Last four
builds have all shown this problem.  Board is 7047 Alton Brand Rev 1.5 with
latest AMI bios.

I am wondering if anyone else has seen this recently.  I am getting ready to
return all stock and switch boards as this has caused a 3 day production
halt already.

Isn't this why we all got into this business - just another QC'less company
to make my week a living hell.
