Hi! Please help me.

After servicepack 5 / 6a (and using the WinNT harddisk-manager), Win98
suddenly doesn't recognize the disk anymore. I get the message "Invalid
media type reading drive D:" (translation from German:  "Ung�ltiger
Medientyp beim Lesen von Laufwerk D:").

Whatever I do - it doesn't work anymore. I have formatted this drive again
from a Win98 bootdisk - and the 'format d:' (takes 2 minutes and) ends with:
"Incorrect partition-table. Formatting stopped" (translation from German:
"Fehlerhafte Partitionstabelle. Formaterung beendet". Funnily enough that
disk is still unformatted, when I look from WinNT!!!

Unfortunately I can't delete the partition and build it again, as my Win98
FDISK can only create ONE primary partition and ONE extended partition.


I have a new AMD700MHz computer with a 20.3 GB IBM harddisk.
The partitions are:
1    500   MB    Boot
2    2000 MB    Win98
3    5500 MB    WinNT
4    extended:
            6000 MB data
            1800 MB BeOS
            1800 MB download
            1800 MB Linux  (not installed)

partitions 1-3 are PRIMARY partitions, 4 is the extended partition


Do you have any idea, what I can do?
Is there a patch for the Win98-Installer to recognize huge harddisks?

What might be the problem?
