It's still not working. I've made a few observations though:

1) The modem (Intel V92 Ham/Fax/Data/Voice PCI) works fine without the
soundcard (Creative Soundblaster 128 PCI) in the machine
2) The machine crashes (freezes/hangs) whenever it tries to use the modem,
with the soundcard installed and enabled.
3) The machine doesn't crash, but the modem doesn't *work* with the
soundcard installed but *disabled*.
4) The soundcard works fine with the modem installed.
5) There are no reported IRQ conflicts in device manager
6) I have WindowsXP.

I don't know how to fix this problem - does anyone have any other
suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

John Elliott
