Here's the deal: a 850meg HD (Quantum) has crashed, scandisk says that the mediabyte is corrupt Fdisk says that my hd is write protected Format(dos) says it can't write my boot sector Norton disk doctor says that i fucked up. however, bios detects the drive correct. Question: Can I - replace the corrupted mediabyte by a new one with DEBUG or something, and if so, what is the value of the byte. - Are there utils to fix this problem and if so, where do i find these - I once saw someone use the /MBR flag with FORMAT to format the master boot record. win95 FORMAT doesn't support this. which FORMAT does, and will this work? - Will a Lowlevel format work(not available in my BIOS) - is norton diskdoctor right after all? PLEASE help me thanks Dirk@Maat.demon.nl
