Your best bet is going to be to read several entry
level and intermediate books. I have some authors
in mind for you below and you are going to have to
go find the books at the bookstore and see what
style of writing you are going to enjoy studying.
I have download the Bruce Eckel book and it is a
good book for coverage of OO, but I did see some
inconsistencies with what I know...some of which
may have been fixed in the published text. A
great text for heavy code examples and pushing you
through the material very fast would be Deitel &
Deitel's Cyber Classroom, which has a classroom on
CD. The Third edition is coming out in July, 1999
and it is supposed to cover quite a bit more than
the first two texts as well as Swing, and RMI.
Good luck,
Thomas
