Hello,

The best person to help me out with this would be someone who has read
Windows Game Programming for dummies I guess; but I would appreciate a
response from anyone who thinks they could help me out!

I have finished the book Windows Game Programming for Dummies and am now
embarking on my first project. However, I have encountered a problem when
attempting to display a 16/24 bit background on to the screen.
I am using the same code as I use to display an 8bit bitmap (but without the
setpalette() function).

When I try to display an 8 bit background with 8 bit sprites on top of it I
have no problems and can write a workable basic game.

But when I try to display a 16 bit background in exactly the same manner,
the image is displayed incorrectly and looks like a mess.
I think it has something to do with the lpitch but I can't see why it would
work with the 8bit file but not the 16bit file.

I've tried for 2 days to correct this but with no success - any advice
anyone could offer would be most graciously received.

 I am using 640X480X8 and 640X480X16 images for the backgrounds.

Regards,
Kumar Naib
