I am learning ASP(Active Server Pages) for one year.

Two years ago, I had learned a little Pascal for my exam in school.

So do you suggest me that learn Visual Basic or Delphi ?

Thanks a lot.

Hi there,

Its my opinion that Delphi is the superior platform.
No runtime DLLs to mess with as well as smaller exe generation.
The bottom line is job availability. I do see more job listings for VB then
Delphi here in Santa Barbara at least.
Of course this posting will probably spark some quick debates.

Take care,

-Jason

Hi there, from Belgium,

Jason, according to me you are right when it concerns superiority on speed
and compilation but on ease of use an RAD, well there is your discussion
part. That's why, worldwide (I think and see, at least) that VB is asked
more often than Delphi. I myself use them both, and can do more in little
time using VB than when I use Delphi.
Don't even forget that MS still as got a marketleading place when it comes
to windows programming.

To the guy who's learning ASP: use VB in combo with Visual Interdev,
it's ease of use should surprise you.

Best Regards,

Mike Martin,
Belgium

Although I agree about the superiority of Delphi overall, I would
recommend using VB for Active Server Pages. This would be a much more
coherent choice, since you would be using MS software all around. Thus,
the same functions and scripts you develop to manage Access or Excel
data can be integrated into your ASP pages with simple copy-pastes.

VB makes the easy things easy.
Delphi Makes the hard things easy.

Do you want to do hard things or easy things?

Why not use Delphi to Write an ISAPI DLL. You can do what ever a ASP page
does but whith compiled code.

You can then sell you DLL with giving away the source.

ASP pages don't scall too well. Don;t believe what MS tells you.

Checkout VB vs Delphi.
