How to Controll Parallel Port with Visual Basic?

Hi, I'm trying to find simple code to control the parallel port from Visual
Basic 6. I have it coded in QuickBASIC, but this is very primitive and I
would like to transfer it into VB. The only problem is, I have no idea what
the commands are, all I can find is controlling the printer, but I just want
to send bits down the parallel port, not print a document.

This is the code I figured out for QB (where thenumber could be from 0 to
256):

OUT &H378, thenumer

Does anyone know how to do this simply in VB?

Thanks a lot

This rather depends on what operating system you are using - we use an
Active X control to do this
under VB see http://www.jspayne.com/ for more info

Pls let me know if you find a better way

Hi All,

Anyone know how to direct the 'LINE' command
at runtime to a frame on the form instead of the form ?

Need to draw simple graphics into various VB 'frames'

Is it even possible ?

Many thanks

Dave

Graphics methods can only be used with these three objects as containers:
the Form object, the Picturebox object, and the Printer object. This is
according to Visual Basic Graphics Programming second edition by Rod
Stephens.
Why not put a Picturebox in the frame?

I suggest you use a Picturebox - the Frame cannot be used with the
Line method

Winio works under 98, NT4.0, and XP with the port i/o functions.
My application tests a special gamepad controller used by my employer.
Have not tested direct memory access in XP.
