Key scan codes in API (DLL calls)
#69

I'm currently a certified TracerX programmer and am just finishing up my VB
certification. I'm trying to write an application that looks for key scan
codes, in VB, that I will execute from TracerX.

I've tried using API and have found a an entry call GetKeyState. This is
probably what I'm looking for, however, I can find no documentation on the
data strings this call expects to receive, nor have I been able to find out
what the return codes are. I assume that when I find the correct data to
post to this function, it will return an ASCII value for the depressed key.

I need to run this application in the background, until such a time that I
terminate the call.

Any ideas? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I can't help you at all but this brings up a problem that I have. Where do you
find documentation of any DLL? I thought that the point of DLLs was that there
was to be some repository of information about all DLLs so that they could be
used by anyone. Is this just another case of MS blowing smoke or have I missed
something important?

AFAIK that's only somewhat true with ActiveX DLL's.
