Hi,

I would like anyone's input here. It doesnt matter what grade of programmer
you are.

I want to write a SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Aquisition) package. I
want the user to draw controls on my forms using a toolbox I created. The
toolbox would consist of tools such in VB. Then there would be a properties
page so he could change the look of the controls. This layout should then be
saved in a database which would be fairly easy.

But how do one write a program that looks nearly something like VB itself?
How do one create these controls (like in VB)? Get control-handles around
them? Here are a few ideas I have. Is it possible in VB? Is it possible in
VC?

        1) create all the controls needed at runtime making them index=0
so that you have a control array.

        2) create a UserControl with all the controls needed inside this
one control and set its index=0 so that you have a control array.

        3) create a SSPanel and inside this put in a
label, textbox, picturebox, gaugecontrol, shapecontrol. So that from this the
user can create almost al the controls needed and set its index=0

Any help? Comments welcome.

Do you really want to write your own when there are so many good ones about?
For example:
www.wonderware.com
Or a lower cost one
www.kepware.com

Or tools for building HMI's in VB
www.globalmajic.com/instrumentation.htm
