Hi, Im trying to write a asp script that loops though a root dir looking for keywords in html and asp documents I have managed to create a list consisting of linked files in the dir with the mappath command but I need to only list the files containing the query string entered in the search textbox if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. cheers Ryan healey@easynet.co.uk

Index Server does this for you. I suppose you *could* write an ASP script that uses FileSystemObject to load the contents of each and every file into memory, parses through them with instr() for the keywords, but (a) you're reinventing the wheel, and (b) this would be painfully slow. -- aaronb [microsoft mvp] swynk.com/friends/bertrand/ Ryan Healey <healey@easynet.co.uk> wrote in message 7a55o2$1g3i$1@quince.news.easynet.net... >Hi, > >Im trying to write a asp script that loops though a root dir >looking for keywords in html and asp documents I have managed >to create a list consisting of linked files in the dir with the mappath >command but I need to only list the files containing the query string >entered in the search textbox if anyone can point me in the right direction >it would be much appreciated.
