The first thing you can expect is that it won't work, or at best you'll have a tough time with it. The Cisco 605 has no Linux drivers at present. (I did recently see a post that alluded to some beta-test drivers, but I tried finding them via searches on Excite and Deja News and turned up nothing. Perhaps somebody in the know could post more information. Even if these beta drivers exist, they may be unstable or limited, and may not work well with point #2....) The second problem is PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE), which is a brand-new technology. I know of two projects to get this working in Linux: http://sidhe.folkwolf.net/~chris/pppoe-howto/ http://www.ipsec.org/email/pppoe/0114.html I've never had to use either, so I can't comment on stability or usability. If you can, your best bet is to contact US West and try to exchange your internal DSL board for an external unit (I believe the Cisco 675 is Cisco's equivalent external device, but there are other products that would probably work, too). You'll need a standard Ethernet adapter to get an external DSL modem working. -- Rod Smith smithrod@bellatlantic.net http://members.bellatlantic.net/~smithrod Author of _Special Edition Using Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux_, from Que
