Dear all What actions do I have to take to setup a Linux webserver on the internet. Can I use my current ISP and ISDN line or do I have to have a leased line? What are the minimum steps I have to take! Thanks Hans

You need a dedicated Internet connection such as a cable modem or DSL service. Simple dial-up service is not sufficient if you want your web server availablw 24/7. Some ISPs providing cable or DSL service will not allow such a configuration so you should investigate. Then install Apache web server on your Linux box and make a few configuration settings make your web server available to the world. Remeber, your web server MUST have a valid IP address as provided by your ISP, not in the private range of 10.x.x.x or 192.x.x.x. Good luck! hans wrote: > Dear all > > What actions do I have to take to setup a Linux webserver on the internet. > > Can I use my current ISP and ISDN line or do I have to have a leased line? > > What are the minimum steps I have to take! > > Thanks > Hans
