I had independently protested about the use of Flash, specifically in
relation to "The Hollow Men". In the light of your posting, I followed
it up with additional comments relating to tax payers. I have now
received a reply. In full it says

"The ABC offers a number of formats across ABC TV, including WMV and MP4
on the vodcasting site. The ABC is therefore not bias by using Flash.

Flash was determined as best suited to handle the streaming video for
this particular application iView right now, but this does not by any
means lock the ABC into a particular system, and we continue to evaluate
other standards and platforms."

Which seems a cop out, given how simple it would be to provide MP4 in
parallel. I think they're still worried about protecting their content,
even though I've pointed out that there exist tools to extract the
content from a Flash streaming download.

Sylvia.
