Help! - CDR programming problems

Hi everyone,

Sorry about the cross posting but this query does not seem to fall into the
same category as most of the posts (how do I get EZCD to ...)

I am developing a Win32 program to record to CD in real time using TAO. The
main problem is there seems to be no documentation around describing the
sequence of commands to use. I have read the SCSI MMC standard (in all it's
versions) pretty much from front to back and I think I have a reasonable
idea of what to do but am still having a lot of problems.

I am using both a Ricoh MP7040A (old, slow...) and a Yamaha CRW-F1 (new,
fast!!!) and getting different behaviour from each.
Essentially the commands I am using are:

MODE_SENSE/MODE_SELECT to set the Write Parameters page (a minefield in
itself) for TAO, CD-DA, etc...
(WRITE)
SYNCHRONIZE_CACHE
CLOSE_TRACK_SESSION to close the track
CLOSE_TRACK_SESSION to close the session

Then Eject the disk (using IOCTL_STORAGE_EJECT_MEDIA)
Incidentally, I am using the NT native SCSI interface under XP using
SCSI_PASS_THROUGH rather than ASPI.

The results are:
RICOH - seems to all work OK but then does not eject the disc and is
completely unresponsive (have to power down)
YAMAHA - can't even get the MODE_SELECT command to work - Error: 1117 The
request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

If anyone is able to either help me or point to where I might get some help
I would be very grateful.

Cheers,
Michael Pitt
