This may not help, but I have an old laptop running W95. Several 
programs, which are specced for a minimum of XP, do seem to run OK on it 
(albeit very slowly because of the lack of memory and hard disk space, 
and a slow processor).

I reckon that nothing below XP is not mentioned may not be that these 
programs don't work. It may simply be that no tests were done to see if 
they actually did work. I know that experts will say that you might 
screw up your computer, but is it possible that the printer will 
actually work with an XP driver?
