A friend has got an old PC running Windows 2000 and has just bought a
HP 1660 printer.

Cant find the printer drivers - not on the HP website for Windows
2000.

Any ideas? Would the HP Universal Print Driver (UPD) PCL 5 4.5 work?
avis-opinions.php3).

Or is it just a tough that a lot of manufacturers no longer write
printer drivers for windows 2000?

The following is posted on the HP site.

"Don't see your operating system?
If your operating system is not listed above, HP does not have software or
driver downloads available for this product in that operating system."

Windows 2000 wasn't listed.

Seems your choices are, upgrade to Windows XP or a compatible printer.

Not for Windoze. HP dosen't support earlier versions of M$ than what
was current when the printer was built.
You *can* try getting CUPS running on windows...if you're a
masochist.
Or just use linux which has better printer support at this point
anyway.
I'm in a similar boat: w98 era printer with wXP OS.
No fuckin drivers for XP.
